2012 – 2013 Green Student Interns

Cortez Adams
Green Week Intern

Cortez Adams is a native of Memphis, TN who interned with the Office of Sustainability during his Junior year at the university. Majoring in public policy leadership, the prospect of working to build a more sustainable campus naturally intrigued him, and was the driving force for his rendition of Green Week. In addition to working for the Office of Sustainability, Cortez contributed to change at Ole Miss as Chairman of Student Traffic Appeals, a Student Advocate, an International Student Ambassador, and a member of Men of Excellence. After graduating in May 2014 with a degree in Public Policy, he went on to pursue a career in law at Emory in Atlanta.

Nathan Byrd
Energy Team

Nathan Byrd is a native of Brandon, MS. He served as a member of the PowerSave Campus team and Energy Team from September 2012 until May 2014. During that time, he served as the Metrics Specialist and worked with other interns on the Energy Team to improve energy efficiency on campus. As an undergraduate, Nathan was also member American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the Luckyday Success Program, and is a founding father and the treasurer of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. Nathan graduated in December 2014 with a degree in chemical engineering and is currently working at the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality.

 

Sara Douglass
Energy Team

Sara is a native of Ann Arbor, MI and worked as a Green Student Intern from 2012 until 2014. During that time, she primarily worked on the Energy Team, but also worked independently on various sustainability projects including bicycling infrastructure and education. She graduated in May 2014 with a degree in biology and a minor in environmental studies. In 2014, Sara became the inaugural Post Baccalaureate Fellow in the Office of Sustainability.

Aaron Erbes
Energy Team

Aaron Erbes is a native of Murphysboro, IL. He served on the Energy Team from fall 2012 until spring 2014. He is a senior economics major. During the summer of 2012, Aaron traveled to Costa Rica with the Global Renewable Energy Education Network (GREEN) where he was immersed in their environmentally conscious culture. During his time in Costa Rica, he was inspired to come back to Ole Miss and be an agent of change on campus.
