Green Grove Initiative – Statistics
This graph illustrates the amount of waste generated and the amount of recyclables collected in the past football seasons. Diversion rates include the percentage of waste materials diverted from traditional disposal such as landfilling or incineration to be recycled, composted, or re-used.
This graphic contains waste totals, volunteer turn out, and the diversion rate of the 2015 football season. We’ve made great strides increasing our diversion rate!
The Athletic Department, Associated Student Body, Landscape Services, Oxford Recycling and the Office of Sustainability are determined to improve our diversion rate for the 2016 football season. We will be announcing the dates of the EPA Game Day Challenge in which we will need the entire Ole Miss community’s support in reaching 5% diversion of grove waste and 10% diversion of stadium waste. With the implementation of mesh bags, green grove ambassadors, and more recycling bins outside of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, we believe this is an attainable goal.
